A patient calls you regarding an issue with her daughter. At a visit to her pediatrician, the 13-year-old girl, who has been healthy throughout childhood, was diagnosed with a genital wart. She admits to having unprotected intercourse and requests oral contraceptives but refused a full pelvic examination. The pediatrician stated that the daughter no longer was a candidate for HPV vaccination and that a pelvic examination with appropriate testing was required before contraception could be initiated. What do you advise?
