Vaginal Prolapse Outcomes Similar With or Without Mesh

Vaginal prolapse repair improves quality of life, with or without mesh, according to a study published in the January issue of the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Andrew I. Sokol, M.D., from the Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C., and colleagues compared the 12-month outcomes of vaginal prolapse repair with and without mesh. Participants were followed-up for 12 months after trial stoppage for mesh exposures. Vaginal prolapse of stage ≤1 at 12 months was the  primary outcome of the study.
