Intraoperative hemorrhage is a serious complication of gynecologic or obstetric surgery, and catastrophic hemorrhage sometimes results in panic. A calm, stepwise approach, as outlined, will enable the surgeon, his/her consultants, and the operating team to successfully manage a potentially lethal problem.
