Vitamin D: Essential for Lifelong Health in Women

Vitamin D is essential for maintaining bone health, but studies show women are not meeting intake requirements. This article evaluates the benefits of vitamin D—which expand beyond preserving bone integrity to include decreasing risk of certain cancers and prolonging life—and suggests screening women for deficiency and recommending supplementation.
