Metabolic Syndrome in Women With PCOS

A discussion of metabolic syndrome is relevant to ObGyns because of its relatively high prevalence in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and in menopausal women. The risks associated with diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia are reviewed here, and a more complete approach is offered to identify women with PCOS who may need treatment to reduce long-term complications.
