Obstetric crisis response teams, acting as specially-trained designated units,
are effective mechanisms for handling maternal-fetal emergencies. Data show such
events are common, and that these teams are useful, acceptable to staff and patients,
and promise to improve outcomes.

Gender and racial biases in medical research and treatment isolate a particular
subset of patients: minority women with female cancers. This article addresses
disparities in diagnosis and incidence of breast and cervical cancers
in minority women, and offers suggestions for promoting equitable care.
